What Causes Jealousy – Taming The Green Eyed Monster

While you may think that it is other people that are what causes jealousy the actual cause of jealousy is within the person that is experiencing the jealousy. Jealousy is an internal issue and it may be very difficult to come to terms with why you are feeling jealous. Most times jealousy is due to a person having low self worth or low self esteem.

If you do not feel good about yourself then you will frequently feel jealous of those that you wish you were like. You may never have met the person which means that frequently jealousy is a completely unfounded emption and you can strike out to anyone. How you perceive the world as well as how you perceive yourself fin your world will be an important part of feeling jealous.

Many times if you worry about something, such as your partner leaving you then you may become jealous of anyone that they speak to because you are insecure and always worried that he or she will leave you for someone else. Jealousy will make normal things seem out of proportion and what is normal for many people will not appear normal to you.

How intense your jealousy is many times will differ depending on the situation. If you like the person of whom you are jealous then your jealousy is not that intense whereas if you hate the person to whom your jealousy is focused then your jealousy can be very intense.

Anger and fear will also cause jealousy and many times a combination of this and insecurity will create a lot of jealousy. Some common triggers of jealousy include an achievement that you don’t think someone should have accomplished, a person you don’t like succeeding, someone else achieving something you want to or when you see a friend or loved one flirting.

It is possible to fix your jealousy though you will need to admit your problem if you really want to change. It is then important to work on your self esteem and how you control your thoughts. The real cause of jealousy is inside you and no one can fix your jealousy but yourself.
