How To Have A Great Time When Your Boyfriend Is Out Of Town

One of the turning points in any new relationship comes when you realize that you’re part of a couple. A couple with habits and routines of their own. You’ve successfully (I hope!) merged your single self into couple mode.

So what do you do when that person goes out of town? If youre used to your sweetie being around all the time and suddenly you have to go more than a few days without that lovin feelin, you might find yourself wondering what to do. This doesnt make you hopelessly co-dependent; this makes you a perfectly normal human being who gets into a routine and might feel a little thrown when something shakes it up. Plus, duh, you love this person; daily habits aside, you will miss them.

Believe it or not, this really is situation of the glass being half full rather than half empty. There are at least three things I can think of that will make your alone time fly by.

Letting go

Okay, not ugly ugly (theres never any reason to not take care of yourself. That should not be dependent on a loves presence) but you can safely get away with not shaving your legs or worry about hanging around in your oh-so-comfy but totally unflattering sweatpants.

It’s actually refreshing and relaxing to have a bit of time when you don’t have to fret about your looks. These few days of down time will probably leave you looking even hotter (if that’s even possible) when your sweetie gets back.

Time for yourself

The last few months have probably gone something like this; you spend time at each other’s place doing couple stuff. Your plants have been neglected, you haven’t done your laundry in weeks, and the bills are piling up. Being caught up in a lover’s haze is wonderful, but it does mean that things are left undone. Now is a great time to catch up.

Pretend youre in a long distance relationship

You and your significant other are probably used to all the typical romantic tactics that come with being in a relationship where youre within easy access to each other at all times. Thats not to say those things are inferior or not as sweet but its always fun to mix it up. One of you being out of town is an automatic shift that, while making you lonesome for your lover, also opens you up to a whole range of possible romantic activities.

Your sweetie will be thinking of nothing but you if you initiate a naughty phone call just before he goes to bed. If crooning sexy come ons over the phone isn’t your thing, send a few sexy photos of yourself (nothing x-rated!) to his email address. For a touch of old fashioned romance, send a letter to his hotel.

Catch up with friends

Bit of a no brainer really. Your friends are seeing far less of you, and they miss you. Let’s hope you haven’t cut them off all together because you may find yourself getting a less than friendly reception. Spending time with your bosom buddies while your other half is out of town is a great way to pass the time.
